The largest building project ever undertaken
by the County of Los Angeles is complete. Welcome to your new LAC+USC
Medical Center!
The replacement hospital
is made up of four buildings that cover more than three city blocks.
The final phase of the move took place November 7th and 8th, 2008. The
building consists of a Clinic
Tower, Diagnostic and Treatment Tower,
Inpatient Tower, and Subterranean
Central Plant.

The new hospital was planned and
designed to be the County’s flagship hospital: serving as the
backbone of the County’s safety net, providing major regional
and community emergency, trauma, and critical care services.
There are a vast number of clinical
and diagnostic improvements over the old hospital. The new facility
provides the same medical services the community has come to depend
on. In addition, we are able to provide patients and hospital staff
with the latest technologies, permitting enhanced responsiveness to
address changing health care needs.
We ask that the community use
the hospital’s emergency facilities for their intended purpose
—for critical, life-threatening emergencies. With our County-wide
network of partner clinics, we can help you find a primary care physician
for non-urgent an ongoing care. A primary physician will help you manage
health conditions and diseases that require regular check-ups and screenings.
An established partnership between health care provider and patient
is essential to staying well and avoiding emergencies.

Use of Neighborhood Clinics
"This is a wonderful time for all of us. We are teaming
with our
community to reinvent the county's Safety Net Hospital and Clinic
providers in Los Angeles. The partnership between the hospital
and the
network of community clinics will ensure patients are getting
the
'right care, at the right place, at the right time'. Let's make
this
vision a reality for LA County".
