How To Become A Volunteer

Download and fill the Application Form one month prior to orientation date.

Be sure addresses for references are filled out completely with city and zip code. The office will mail out forms to the references you indicate on the application. After the references have been received by the Volunteer Office, an interview with the Coordinator of Volunteers will be arranged.

The volunteer's interests, talents, and qualifications are discussed along with different volunteer positions available. After a placement is agreed upon by the new volunteer and the Coordinator, a training orientation session is arranged which includes a tour of the hospital.

Please mail or bring in the application to:

Inpatient Tower
Volunteer Office, 1st Floor, Room 1K-311
1200 North State Street
Los Angeles, CA 90033
Phone (323) 409-6945

New volunteers usually work on a fixed schedule which they select. It is requested that volunteers work a minimum of six(6) months, once a week for four(4) hours or at least a total of 200 hours. All efforts are made to place volunteers in assignments which are most suitable to their talents, and where they can best serve the needs of patients.

Requirements
  • Commit to a minimum of 200 hours of volunteer service with a flexible schedule.
  • Submit a completed application to the Volunteer Office.
  • Volunteers rent the uniforms they are required to wear on duty and are provided with an
             identification badge.
  • Attend one orientation session.
  • Live scan fingerprints are required for all adults. They are completed at DHS Human Resources
Office and are free of charge to the volunteer.
  • A semi-annual tuberculosis test is required which is provided without cost to the volunteer. Also,
a Rubella Titer clearance is required, if assigned to work with patients.
